from Sensei Vicky:
Ihave been training in karate for the last 14 years. I originally started because my daughter persuaded me to train with her, however I very quickly found my own passion for the sport. We practice Wado Ryu with the added katas from other styles which are successful in competition kata, I began competing nationally when I was a 1st kyu brown belt in 2016. Over the years I have competed all over the world. I was selected for the NMAC Great Britain Martial Arts Team in 2018 which was held in Liechtenstein, then London in 2019 World Championships and the world championships in 2023 at Daytona beach Florida where I came away with gold medals in team kata and kumite.
In 2019 I started my own karate club Armada-do karate, and I am very proud to have over seventy students ranging from four years old to adults. With my own ongoing training as well, karate is a big part of my life of which my new goal is to focus on my student’s journeys in karate and hopefully one or a few of them will keep our success going.
My most recent focus is on empowering women within the world we now live in. I believe that every woman and girl should have confidence and belief in themselves as well as their physical ability to achieve whatever they wish. We have delivered several self-defence courses as well as regular slots teaching the sixth form at Talbot Heath school throughout the year, as featured in the Bournemouth Echo.
I am currently training in kata with the World Cadet Number One, Thomas Klemz to further my knowledge in competition kata, I am also studying Sport Management at Bournemouth University, which I aim will enable me to develop our services wider. As a very shy and withdrawn young lady, I believe that if I can do it, anyone can!
i have just completed my 1st Self Defence course for the Inara Project, giving Muslim women confidence in todays world.
of which im very proud of.
